Elks Rally Raises Big Bucks!

Wagonmaster Pat Martino & Barbara present a check to Elks Rally Treasurer
Martin Hauxworth. The $1,300 check represented the funds earned at the
MVSV booth and was added to our Lodge's Purple Pig donation in support
of our Handicapped Childrens Charity. The Rally's total weekend
earnings for the children were $25,000 this year.

The October campout was early this year on Sept 24th. Sixteen rigs traveled
to sunny…I mean “HOT” Hemet, CA. and the Golden Palms RV Resort. The
event was the annual Elks Rally for the Purple Pig. Up went the tents. Down
went gallons of ice water & such. Our attempts to keep cool were only partially
successful, but behind it all was the driving desire to do something good
for the handicapped children. By the end of the 4-day weekend our group
had raised $1,300 in the name of the Lodge for the Major Project, and the
Rally of 220 RVs had raised over $25,000.

Run-A-Ways’ Report 2009
OCTOBER CAMPOUT

In spite of the heat, we had a wonderful outing. Of the 32 people in our
group, many were winners of Rally prizes. Wagon masters Pat and Barbara
Martino did a great job serving as trail bosses for the event, organizing the
gaming booth and the Sat. night pot luck. Rally officers are already hard at
work planning next year’s event and have promised some major changes,
either in the date or the location of the booths (possibly moving them inside
the air conditioned club house). Wouldn’t that be nice?
The November Thanksgiving campout will be at Mountain View RV Park in
Hemet on Nov 13 & 14. Trail Boss Ken & Janet Zitttrer, Assistants Yamauchi
& Probst.
